Basic Procedure for notching

There are two basic methods for notching finished pieces. The method you use will be determined by your particular job.

1) Notching a straight-line tube between two existing tubes  "one cut"

Measure centerline distance between two existing tubes and record acute angle at both ends.

2) Notching a non straight-line tube between two existing tubes or a notch at one end only "trim cut"

watch a video of this procedure

Lay up and secure your piece of tubing that is to be notched on one end only. Mark both centerline and the intersecting point. (position the snap collar locator so that the small center Vee on the collar is on the acute angle side). Record angle with protractor (no need to measure if it is to be a right angle joint)
